Sitting down and experiencing peace is one thing; actually using it to transform your life is quite another. A great deal goes on between intention and action, and sometimes you might catch yourself saying, “I didn’t want to do that, but …..” or “sorry, I didn’t mean to say that.”
There seem to be two aspects to thought. The first is the thought itself; the second is the awareness and understanding of the thought. It is the intellect that is used to understand the thoughts.
“ think before you speak”
You are being asked to use your intellect and consider whether your thoughts are worth uttering.
Generally, you don’t worry too much about what is going on in your mind, but in meditation you want to stop external activity and watch the internal activity: your thoughts.
